Tanah Air Beta is working with the Faculty of Forestry at the University of British Columbia to create opportunities to explore and learn from institutional arrangements for inclusive, resilient, sustainable development in forest landscapes. The Vibrant Forest Landscapes Lab at UBC works in partnership with communities in Cameroon, Indonesia, Cambodia and Canada to explore potential for different development pathways to deliver local objectives, identified within each landscape. Development pathways include the various local and external initiatives that influence change, such as large investments in commodities and infrastructure, locally controlled enterprises, and the recognition of customary governance systems. In Indonesia, our focus will be on building and strengthening partnerships for local governance and small forest enterprises, bridging horizontal and vertical gaps across networks.
